Sit back, if you please,
And I will tell you of a tale
About events in recent past,
About three Criminals

Well, they went marching through the streets
Of Salzburg late one night,
Playing as they went their way,
Playing for their right to play

The Polezei were far away
On the other side of town
They did not know that hundreds
Of people had gathered ’round

The people wanted music
They longed to sing and dance
They wanted a revolution,
And tonight they had their chance to play

Well, they played long into the night,
And how the people grew
In number and in passion
Their time had come, they knew

They took up arms and stood their ground
Each vowed not to flee
In the Salzburg Revolution
Begun by the Criminals Three

And they played and they played
La da da da….
Oh, oh, oh….

The Polezei thought that
Their troubles all were gone,
But they soon received a warning
That a battle now raged on

They mounted on their trusty steeds
And rode off in the night
To crush the Revolution,
To silence rebel cries.

The Polezei did arrive
And they were so alarmed
At the sight of all the people
Standing tall in arms

“Rednecks!” yelled the Polezei
“We don’t like your kind ’round here!”
So the Criminals fled to the Augustiner
And drank some victory beer(s)

And they played and they played
La da da da….
Oh, oh, oh….

Well, that was the night the Revolution
Began and quickly ceased
They say that if you listen
Very closely to the trees,

At night you can still hear the music,
And in your mind you dream
Of the Salzburg Revolution
Begun by the Criminals Three

And they played and they played

Oh, oh….
